Looking forward: Young BPW Europe Weekend

During the Berlin Symposium I had the very chance to meet many Young BPW from all around Europe. During Lunch we had the great idea to have a Young BPW Europe Meeting next Spring. Luckily Burcu Bahar Gogus, Young BPW Turkey, and Adrianna Demel, Young BPW Poland, did volunteer to find work on the venue and date. We promise: this will be an easy and not too expensive Weekend for everyone. The theme was agreed immediately: No theme & time to talk!

Burcu and Adrienna will work on details so that we hope to be able to invite by end of this year!

Looking for you: Young BPW Europe Representative

My term as Representative is expiring next October and we need a successor for this position. In the sense of sustainability already today I would like to make you thinking about this wonderful volunteer task. Attached you find a paper with some “duties”. Everybody who is interested is invited to contact me for any questions.

I wish everyone wonderful a wonderful September – enjoy golden autumn and see you in October!

With my best wishes,

Viktoria Balensiefen

Young BPW Europe Representative

(Young) BPW goes to school – Easy-to-set-up-project from Young BPW Europe

The newly launched project of Young BPW in Europe is widely accepted: “Big” Young BPW Groups like in Germany and Switzerland consider this project as important and will put on their “Action list”. They like the project because it combines several win-win-situations.

At first, BPW becomes more visible, secondly we present ourselves to future members in the schools to interest them at a very early age. And third, with our volunteer work, we do something for the society. Each participating member takes profit from a forth reason: she cannot only present her company (and recruit colleagues or employees) but she can also train her presenting skill.

You are interested in details – just contact me.

Pau-Brasil Tree Planting launches the Project “Tree is Life” in Brasília

The BPW International Environment Committee launched the project nationally together with the Federal Republican Presidency. The participation of the Brazilian Executive Vice President José Alencar in the ceremony increased the BPW visibility in Brasil.

Tree is Life focuses that Brazilian people have to plant trees to fight against Climate Change.

On September 6th 2007, the Chairperson of the Environment Committee, Yara Blochtein and the BPW Brasil President Beatriz Fett, in a public ceremony, launched the project “Tree is Life”. The participation of the Past International President, Antoinette Ruegg, from Switzerland and also the Vice International President Liz Benham, from the USA.

In this way, we intend to stimulate the posture change process to fight against the challenges created by the Climate Change on the 21st century and to warn Brazilians that planting trees means to plant lives and take care of our planet.

“The project main goal is to motivate each Brazilian to plant a tree” says Yara that since 1992 works with environmental projects in BPW. The project has the support of the President of the Republic, Governmental authorities as well as NGOs. Tree is life has been first launched in Cuiabá by Sueli Batista and Eliana Motta during CONFAM and in Rio Grande do Sul, Porto Alegre, the project was introduced by Ligia Barata Brasil with the participation of the Governor Yeda Crusius.

We have to transform this action in a seed to grow searching the harmony between human and nature.

Yara Blochtein - Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Environment Sustainable  Development  of BPW International
