Looking back: BPW Germany Symposium on Career Future, Family

 

Young BPW Germany did have a wonderful in Event in September in Berlin, where more than 115 guest out of more than seven countries did discuss about how to combine successfully a family and career. Beside a very important topic we had the chance to meet, get to know each other and fortify our (Young) BPW network. Find attached a report from a german member, who was really impressed.

 

Then, this a statement from Burcu Gogus, BPW Ankara, Turkey, about her experience in joining an international Event:

 

As a member of a relatively new club (BPW Ankara,Turkey), I really impressed very much from the organization and the institualization of BPW Germany at the "Career, Future and Family" Symposium. Members of BPW Germany Federation show us a great example of solidarity and cooperation spirit of BPW Family!

 

In Turkey, reconcilitation between private and working life of women is a relatively new subject to discuss. Therefore, this European Symposium provides me a broad information about the subject and gave an idea about the future activities of Young BPW in Turkey!

 

Finally, I have to state that, Young BPW friendship in the international scheme inspired and motivated me very much. Now, I am trying to reflect this motivation with other Young BPW in Turkey! We feel the strong and solid support of Young BPW Europe behind us!

 

Thank you very much for the invitation and warm welcome to the BPW Berlin Club members!

BPW International Congress in Mexico-City, Mexico!

 

Dear all,

  

We wanted to share with you the progress report on the preparations for the XXVI BPW International Congress to be held in Mexico City, Mexico on 24-28 October 2008.  

 

I have recently made a congress site inspection and congress organization trip to Mexico City accompanied by Mrs Willy Iersel-Jones, whose experience and advice as the Congress Organiser of previous BPW International Congresses was extremely valuable. Josefina Peralta has agreed to be the coordinator of a local team of members (some were former members who have been recently reinstated as members) who have volunteered to help us organize this Congress. They are very enthusiastic about carrying out their tasks. They will strongly support BPW International.

BPW International Competition: Find new lyrics or new lyrics and rhythm for the BPW Anthem !

 

The Sound of BPW International Anthem

The competition for BPW International Anthem is expanding to allow BPW Affiliates to propose either (a) new lyric for the old rhythm of BPW International Anthem OR (b) the new rhythm and the new lyrics for BPW International Anthem. Countries that expressed interest may download the current rhythm and its music notes from BPW International's web site: http://www.bpw-international.org/publications/library-anthem.htm. 

 

The musical score, the lyric in English, and the CD of the proposed BPW International Anthem in two versions: rhythm only version and rhythm and lyric version should be submitted to BPW International's President Office no later than 31 December 2007.

The top 3 finalists of BPW International Anthem will be played and voted on during the XXVI BPW International Congress in Mexico City, Mexico.

 

History of the Anthem

BPW International Anthem was composed by Professor Consuelo Amador de Rivera. It was originally composed as National Anthem for BPW Mexico in 1984 with lyric in Spanish. At the 21st BPW International Congress in Nagoya, Japan in year 1993, a resolution was passed to adopt the anthem as BPW International Anthem. The anthem was played at the 22nd BPW International Congress in Venice, Italy. Yet, most affiliates are not familiar with it. As a part of branding in Organization Reform process, President Chonchanok Viravan decided to have this anthem re-mastered and redistributed. The first version, released at North America Regional Conference in Jamaica, February 2007 was re-mastered based on the old tape recording of the anthem. However, the anthem was revised with respect to the actual music notes after President Chonchanok met and received the notes from Professor Consuelo in March 2007.

 

Relaunch BPW Anthem

One of the best kept secrets of BPW International is that we have BPW International Anthem! The anthem has been re-mastered and is available in CD format. Let's start a tradition of playing BPW International Anthem at the beginning of BPW International events!

Looking forward to have many clubs/federations/members participate in this competition in Mexico City, Mexico too.

BPW Power to Make a Difference Competition is designed to document and give recognition to the value of leadership, influence and work of BPW Affiliates worldwide.   The winners will receive the trophies at XXVI BPW International Congress, Mexico City, Mexico in October 2008 and will be invited as speakers for the Congress.  

 

There are 3 categories of awards as follows:

I.  BPW Power to Make a Difference through Leadership Awards

II.  BPW Power to Make a Difference through Advocacy Awards

III.    BPW Power to Make a Difference through Action Awards

Young BPW Network Day from BPW Switzerland

 

Corinne Bechtold did inform us, that the next Young BPW Network Day is planned for January 19, 2008, in Zurich/Switzerland. The topic is “Family & Career” and thus a good follow-up to the Symposium from Young BPW Germany. All Young BPW, BPW and prospects are invited to join.

 

Invitations are sent out in January.
